Lupin the Third – 05
Lupin and Jigen finally meet, it seems. I’d call this sort of meeting and initial relationship a bad trope, but I like this sort of thing. If anything, it’s fairly well written into the plot, rather than shoehorned in.
While we’re here, let’s talk about some Lupin trivia. A certain scene in the shows sees specifications of certain weapons come up, so let’s talk about weapons of choice. There’s a small spoiler below, so don’t bother reading it until you’ve finished the episode if you care.
Lupin’s firearm of choice is the Walther P38 and Jigen’s firearm of choice is a Smith & Wesson Model 19. The Walther P38 is a German 9mm semi-automatic pistol that has seen use by the German military as well as the French, among others. The S&W Model 19 (Also known as the “Combat Magnum”) is an American revolver which is chambered for .357 Magnum. Certain popular revolvers that use Magnum cartridges are commonly called “Magnums” or “Magnum revolvers”, which you’ll hear in the show.
During the episode, Lupin makes a comment about never seeing a 7-round Magnum. Jigen says that he knows of 10-round Walthers, which is why he tackles him. The P38 has an 8-round magazine, but Jigen probably couldn’t discern the exact model at the time.
Just a little insight into the series. Enjoy the episode.

Thank you!
Thanks so much, guys. I’m going to seriously enjoy this episode.
IT’S OVER 500MB
jk jk
but what is your view on doing multiple releases like other sub groups, or just releasing the ass file?
I just watch things once and move on, and it kills me when it takes so much bandwidth to download a 20 minute cartoon.
Releasing the script alone is something that was popular a while back. Many groups used to gets raws encoded from Japan via Share/Winny, and leechers could easily obtain these raws as well. It made sense to make a release using these raws, as well as upload the script for those who already had it to mux in themselves.
J-Drama subbers still use this system because most of them don’t encode in-house.
The problem with this system is that these raws were generally over sharpened or colour corrected, but in many cases they were necessary. These days encoders have access to transport streams for basically any show they need, so there’s no need for Share raws.
Two downsides for you as the leecher is that the timing on the scripts won’t match up correctly to any raw you may have since we encode our own, and there are many fonts that we package into our MKV files that you’d have to download (or even purchase) to correctly view our typesetting.
Thanks, guys.
For a Lupin fan this is a goldmine of quality.
Keep it up!
I don’t think I can take much more.
COOL!
Thanks so much for the episode! Have a good night and a good weekend!
Thank you a lot for your work!
Thanks!
I would like to make a spanish translation of your work.
I have your permission?
This is an opportunity to launch yourself to the spanish sector!
XD
Thank you very much! I appreciate the trivia as well. I feel this series is more grimy and dark than the usual Lupin fare, and that lends some true credibility to this reboot. The only thing that bugs me though is that Fujiko is shown as just a slut when she should have been portrayed as being a temptress yet never giving it up.
