Lupin the Third – 04

LUPIN RETURNS!!!

Also I couldn’t be more amused to see Oscar (who is now established to be totally, completely gay for Zenigata) overcome with jealousy for Fujiko, that pig-woman. wwwwwwww

This release would not be possible without the help of 8thsin, who stepped in to TLC the release in lieu of our usual TLC who is sick and has exams.

Also FUCK ITALIAN OPERA. I spent like two hours trying to figure out what these people were singing, matching lyrics and digging up translations. Why? For you guys, of course.

We could have really used someone who majored in theater, though.

Enjoy.

  3. DrIdiot says:

    Thanks!

Though, it probably would have been okay not to translate it, since even Italians can’t understand Italian opera sometimes.

  4. Jo says:

    Thanks guys!!

  5. Eric says:

    Thanks again guys.

  6. kurini says:

Thank you so much for the hardwork!

  7. macxxx007 says:

Bah… Opera’s hardly meant to be understood but more heard… don’t sweat it

Thanks for the episode… YAY! LUPIN’S BACK!

  8. Thank you so very much~ Keep up the good work!

  9. Big_Boss_90 says:

    Thank you!
Ah, wait a sec… I’m Italian, can I get it or will I be shot in the back? XD

    You guys are awesome.

    Any chance I can convince you guys to start tagging your releases? Would make it quite a bit easier to keep up with an RSS feed. Using your search results for “Lupin” works, but occasionally brings up an unrelated post which is rather disappointing. ;__;

  12. Le Fu says:

    >figure out what these people were singing
    >Vissi d’arte
    >“Tosca” is mentioned directly
    Oh Lord.

Next time when you need to find the lyrics to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”, don’t swear and call for “pop culture major”.

Do yourself a favor, spend another two hours on just any of the colorful modern performances of “Tosca”. YouTube has many.

    • Rem says:

Nobody here gives a shit about your Italian opera fandom, bro.

    • cardslash02 says:

Of course I knew it was Tosca. Thank god for that, at least.
Then I just had to scour the entire 3-Act dialogue looking for something that sounded like what they were saying.

I don’t think you realize just how difficult that was. I don’t fuckin know Italian, I don’t know how it’s pronounced, I didn’t know what to search for. And the songs were piecemeal, only the Vissi d’arte one was repeated.

I finally found the correct lines by doing syllable searching, but it took a while.

      • yomismo says:

Knowing it was Tosca, having the lyrics, any latin language (French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, even Romanian) speaker could have done it in 5 minutes.

  13. Wolfman77 says:

    Thanks as always! *POW*

  14. yes says:

Great job with the Italian, but if I might nitpick a little bit:
At 16:48, there shouldn’t be a comma. Wherefore means why, not where.

    • cardslash02 says:

You are of course, correct. For some reason we thought there should be a comma there, it looks natural, but it’s actually wrong. This was brought to my attention yesterday.

However, I am fully aware that Wherefore means Why. I made this very clear in Zenigata’s followup – “I am who I am because…” not “I am here because…”

Essentially by asking “Wherefore art thou, Zenigata” he’s asking “Why are you Zenigata?”
And Zenigata replies that he is who is because his blood defines him, identifies him and gives him meaning as the eternal enemy of the Lupin family.

      • cardslash02 says:

Wow fucking look at that, i made the mistake with the comma again just writing it now. Fuck man that is really programmed in my brain.

  15. -redux says:

Thanks so much for this; also, excellent job on translating the opera songs. I really, really was grateful for that!

  16. Zenigata says:

Zenigata seems a lot less goofy than I remember him being.

  17. Nag says:

Oh good lord what have they done to Zenigata. He used to be an incorruptible agent of JUSTICE who’s only interest was catching Lupin.

It hurt to have his voice actor replaced, his change in character to be more “dark and gritty” has turned my favorite character into my least favorite. At least the rest of the Lupin gang look in good shape and Oscar is proving to be awesome.

  18. Saro says:

Yeah, kind of a shame that Zenigata is kind of a sleazeball. Maybe he’s not as sleazy as we think. I mean, all he did really was bone Fujiko. Who wouldn’t.

  19. djmasturbeat says:

    thanks always
    love lupahn and love sage
